FAQs about hotels in Vienna

Waltz Through the Pretty Streets of Vienna

Previously the center of the Hapsburg Empire, Vienna is the current center of Austria’s culture, economics, and politics. Visitors may think they are in a museum as they walk through the historic first district, but Vienna also has a youthful and dynamic side with lots to offer.

St Stephens Cathedral in the Inner-City is surrounded by the Ring Road, with grandiose buildings like City Hall, the Austrian Parliament, the State Opera House and the Burgtheater. Enjoy the city where amazing musicians like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Mahler once lived. If you’'re visiting during the carnival season, practice your waltzing skills at one of Vienna’s 200 glamorous annual balls.

Visitors can wander around beautiful park grounds in the Wiener Prater and Schonbrunn Palace provides imperial and extravagant grounds to stroll through. After exploring, eat with the locals by enjoying famous sandwiches at Trzesniewski, a Wiener Schnitzel at Cafe Central or taste traditional wines at the city’s many Viennese pubs.

Vienna International Airport is the doorway to the heart of Vienna. Booking.com has luxury hotels, charming bed & breakfasts and modern apartments to meet any accommodation needs for your stay in Austria’s capital.

    Oh my, where to start!

Oh my, where to start! A beautiful, clean, welcoming city with so much to see and do. I have wanted to visit (and see the Danube) since hearing the 'Blue Danube' when I was little. I was worried before we visited that I'd built up my expectations too much and I'd be let down. I'd conjured up images from Viennese Waltzes, Whirls and Schnitzel over many years that I thought would be difficult to match in reality, however I was blown away - all expectations were exceeded. First let me say that we are by no means culture buffs, and you generally wouldn't find us whiling away our weekends in a museum or at an opera. However, go to Vienna and you cannot but be breathtakingly delighted by 'the arts' in all is forms. From Music to Masterpieces, Platzes and Palaces, Horses and Heritage this city has it all. Musts in our opinion - The Spanish Riding school, the Vienna State Opera House (pick anything, just go and soak up the building and the talent on show), classical concerts in any of the cathedrals (or anywhere really, even stop and listen to the buskers), a horse and carriage ride, the museum quarter... the art and collections will blow you away, a trip to Bratislava on the Danube, dinner in Das Loft / DO&CO, take out from Zushi Markt, brunch at the Central Cafe. There are a few things we didn't do that we would've liked to, so I suspect we will return. (City vineyards, more palaces / parks / museums / galleries, trips to other parts of Austria and Budapest, a go in the the little city cars, Prater Park... yes we will return). Buy a city travel pass while you're there, the trams and buses are so easy to use and will take you anywhere you need to go. On a final note - the restaurants and food were fabulous, you will not go hungry!

We walked a lot throughout the city centre from our hotel at Mariahilferstrasse. The city’s 1st district is beautifully presented, feels safe and contains most tourist sights except Schoenbrunn Palace (take the U4 tube). Public transport is easy and relatively cheap. We felt safe at all times. The well known cafes (we visited Landman and Sacher) are pricy but it’s a one off and is worth a visit. The Hofreitschule has a summer break during July and was closed. At Schoenbrunn Palace it’s worth purchasing the classic ticket which includes an audio guided tour through the palace, the entry to the labyrinths, the Gloriette and the Orangerie (which we didn’t look at). It’s worth noting that there is a timed entry to the palace and we had a 4 hours wait before we were allowed in, and they are strict despite us asking. So we visited the other attractions beforehand. To avoid the wait you can book online before. Cash accepted everywhere which is a massive positive for us. Keep it alive! Vienna is absolutely worth a visit, we kept it short to see family afterwards. 4 days is ideal if you are into visiting the museums, there is a lot of outstanding art and architecture to see. Our teens weren’t too interested so the stay was a shorter one. Nevertheless we had a great time and enjoyed the vibes, food and hospitality of the city. A must visit in Europe.

We started off with a cruise from Bucharest to Budapest.

We started off with a cruise from Bucharest to Budapest. And when the cruise was finished, we took the train to Vienna. We were traveling with another couple and all four of us loved Vienna! We would love to return to visit that city again. It is beautiful, clean, and we felt very welcomed and safe. We visited the Schonbrunn Palace and gardens, their winter palace, attended 2 concerts, visited St. Stevens, Cathedral, and Saint Peter‘s Cathedral, visited the national cemetery so we could see where all the composers were buried and went to the Vienna Central library. We also took a one day tour to Salzburg/Hallstatt. Of course we enjoyed walking around the city and visiting all the shops and restaurants. We stayed in the Inner Stadt District which is in the heart of the city and close to everything. We found it very easy to get around the city as we were able to walk or take an Uber. We would love to return to Vienna one day!

Loved Schonbrunn Palace and especially the Zoo! Take the time to visit this zoo. Download the Vienna transport app for an easy way to get around the city - and use the 24/48/72 hour passes depending on the length of your stay. It makes everything much easier to get around efficiently.

I personally think there are more interesting things to see in day trips from Vienna than within the city itself. That is, unless you are interested in classical music or 18th-19th century European history. Public transportation overall is very convenient.

I loved the property and the room decor, the pillows were really comfy and bathroom was great. The room is a bit hot when you first walk in but air conditioning works quickly. Free WiFi and TV with netflix etc. There's a pizza restaurant in the hotel and a really good mochi restaurant and a few supermarkets within 5 mins walk. Also close to purple and red metro lines to get into the city centre within 20-30 mins. Would highly recommend and stay there again if I go back to vienna, great value for money.

We arrived in Vienna when it was snowing heavily, so it was great to have a nice, warm, big hotel room for all three of us. The breakfast is good, and staff are friendly and helpful, including in arranging airport transfers. There is a tram station about 100-200m away from the hotel, but traveling to the city centre takes about 15-20 minutes, and tram lines often break down, so plan your travel accordingly.

I really liked this hotel. Very clean and quiet room, and well equipped kitchenette. I had a balcony, which was above the rooftops, and I enjoyed breakfasts and evening lights there. The hotel is little bit off from the city centre, but Vienna has very good public transport, so it is very easy to go anywhere in the city.
